Written in honor of five decades
of achievement, the University of Miami School of Medicine
is publishing A Tradition of Caring. This book reflects the
development and underscores the value of the first accredited
medical school in Florida. A Tradition of Caring illustrates
the scope of the school’s rise from its initial home
in Anastasia Hall at the Biltmore Hotel to its current international
acclaim for research, patient care, education, and community
service.

and Joanne Dauer and
the Dauer Family Foundation for underwriting this important
historical book. The Dauer
family’s legacy of support, as well as their commitment
to education, is a significant part of medical school’s
history. As partners in growth for more than four decades,
the Dauer family shares in the triumphs and achievements
of the School of Medicine. Thanks to their generosity, this
commemorative edition will be provided to all alumni, students,
faculty, and benefactors and will be available in the fall
of 2003.
