Classes of the 50's

Emilio Echevarria, M.D. 1956 Chief of Department of Surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, is a long standing member of  the State of Florida's Board of Medicine.  Initially appointed by Governor Bob Graham in 1983, Echevarria was re-appointed by Governor Martinez and, most recently, by Governor Chiles.  Echevarria and his wife Katherine have five children;  his son David is in practice with him in general surgery.

Mickey Demos, M.D. 1957 chaired an intensive three week Military Healthcare Risk Management Certification Course for all the U.S. military services and VA Hospitals.  Currently he is a physician and attorney who practices in Coral Gables, Florida, and is founder and chairman of the American Institute of Medical Law.  Demos is also an alumnus of the law school at the University of Miami.

Earl Saunders, M.D. 1957 was recently honored for thirty-five years of membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians.  He was recognized during the opening ceremony of the organization's 49th Annual Scientific Assembly in Chicago.  Saunders currently is in practice in Inglis, Florida.
