Classes of the 90's

Nancy Sanderson, MD '90 adopted her tenth child in August. The children come from across the US as well as Ethiopia and Liberia. She also hosted five foreign exchange students from South Korea, Vietnam and Spain last year.

Ana Ceide Hodges, MD '92, a private practice pediatrician, and husband Michael C. Hodges, MD '93 have been living in Fayetteville, North Carolina, for the past five years. Michael, who served in the US Army, is writing a book chronicling his year in Iraq serving in a combat support hospital.

Jonathan D. Reich MD '92 would like to communicate with former classmates. His wife, Shari, an alumna of the Jackson Memorial School of Nursing, passed away from ovarian cancer. He can be reached by email.

Cecilia Valdes Morales, MD '96 is a general pediatrician at the University of Miami.

Cynthia Gyamfi, MD '98 completed a fellowship in maternal and fetal medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York in June. She is assistant clinical professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Uzma Siddiqui, MD '98 is assistant professor of gastroenterology at Yale University Medical School, where she practices advanced endoscopic procedures and endoscopic ultrasonography.

Nancy Baker, MD ’98 is practicing Family Medicine/Urgent Care in Vero Beach and has been married to classmate Rick Baker, MD for the past ten year.  Dr. Baker is also the Medical Director of the local chapter of Red Cross and the Clerkship Director in Family Medicine at the FSU Fort Pierce (Regional campus).  She also serves as a volunteer physician for “We Care”.

Rick Baker, MD ’98 is currently the Chief of Family Medicine at Indian River Medical Center.  He lives in Vero Beach with his wife and classmate Nancy Baker, MD and their two children Meagan & Thomas.

Jason M. Goldman, MD ’98 is a solo practitioner in Internal Medicine in Coral Springs, Florida.  He has been married to his wife Joy, since 2002.  Their first child, Evan was born in May of 2005 and they are expecting their second child this coming May.

Denise Erdem, MD ’98 is a solo practitioner in Internal Medicine here in Miami.  Dr. Erdem has been married for 25 years and has two children in college.

John Gillis, MD ’98 ran to Colorado after medical school for his Residency, where he stayed until 2001.  He then entered an Outpatient Family Practice for the I.H.S. in Colorado, until 2004.  Dr. Gillis then joined his father-in-law in Anchorage, Alaska where they work, ski, fish and play as much as possible.  Dr. Gillis had two children who are both musicians and skiers.

Colleen Fitzpatrick, MD, Jeff Halter, MD, and David Lasko, MD graduates of the Class of 1999, matched into three of the 28 available spots in the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship Match held in May. Fitzpatrick is finishing her residency on active duty with the US Air Force in San Antonio and will attend the Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. Halter, currently finishing his general surgery training at Syracuse University, matched into Children's Hospital of Ohio in Columbus. Lasko is finishing his training at the University of Miami and will attend the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.

Matthew Strange, MD '99 joined Naples Radiologists in Florida.
