Ruth Schobel, M.D., '81
President
Dr. Schobel received her Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University in 1970 and went on to receive her medical degree in 1981 from the University of Miami School of Medicine. She continued here at UMMSM with her Residency in Pediatrics from 1981-1984. Dr. Schobel has been in private practice since 1984 in Miami Lakes. She first practiced with a group and has been on her own since August 2000. In 1981, Dr. Schobel married Lucian Rind and they have two sons Daniel and Jonathan.
Steven Falcone, M.D., '87, M.B.A. '04
President-Elect
Was recently named Executive Clinical Dean for the Regional Campus of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Dr. Falcone is the vice chair of the University of Miami Medical Group, the medical director of the University’s radiology services at the Miller School of Medicine, and the director of the MRI fellowship program at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. He will lead the establishment of academic medical practices of the University of Miami Medical Group in Palm Beach County. Dr. Falcone is a devout UM Hurricane -- he received his undergraduate, medical and MBA degrees from the University. He also did his residency in radiology and his fellowship in neuroradiology at UM/Jackson, and joined the UM faculty in 1992.
Gerardo M. Perez, M.D. '81

After graduating as salutatorian from a local high school, he graduated magna cum laude from the University of Miami, receiving a BS in Chemistry. Dr. Perez graduated from the medical school in 1981 and completed a residency in ophthalmology in 1985 at the University of Colorado followed by a fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in 1986. In private practice since 1986 he has been a member of several hospital boards. Dr. Perez has been highly involved with the Medical Alumni Association for the past seven years and has supported the School on many levels prior to his involvement with the Association.
Jorge J. Guerra, Jr., M.D. '72

Jorge Guerra, M.D. graduated from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 1972 and completed his residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. His subspecialty is vascular interventional radiology and he is board-certified by the American Board of Radiology. Guerra was recently appointed associate medical director for clinical operations with the University of Miami Medical Group, and will help coordinate the development of the new multispecialty practice building and hospital at the Miller School.
Kenneth D. Keusch, M.D. '63

Kenneth Keusch, M.D. graduated from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 1963 and completed a medical internship and radiology residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology and the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. He was in private practice at Cedars Medical Center in Miami, Florida. Keusch is currently retired.
Alberto A. Mitrani, M.D. '84

Dr. Mitrani is a graduate of Harvard College and the University Of Miami School Of Medicine. He served as the Director of the General Internal Medicine Faculty Practice at the Miller School of Medicine from 1993 - 2000. Prior to that, he was Director of the Heart Transplant Medical Clinic from 1987 - 1994. Dr. Mitrani was in the initial group of Internal Medicine Specialists of the University of Miami Cardiovascular Center and maintains his university affiliation as Associate Professor of Medicine, Voluntary Faculty. Dr. Mitrani is known for his skills as a clinician and educator. His area of expertise is General Internal Medicine with a special interest in cardiovascular disease and hypertension, lipid disorders, preventive medicine, peri-operative medicine, venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Dr. Mitrani in currently in private practice in Coral Gablesenneth Keusch, M.D. graduated from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 1963 and completed a medical internship and radiology residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology and the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. He was in private practice at Cedars Medical Center in Miami, Florida. Keusch is currently retired.
