November 26, 2008 Dear Friends and Colleagues, As we all prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for all of you and the excellent work you have done this year. As an academic medical center, we have much to be grateful for. We’ve successfully launched University of Miami Hospital and UHealth—the University of Miami Health System, and we’ve continued to see growth in all of our hospitals, expanding on the number of people we are reaching with our world-class patient care. We have also accelerated our work as global leaders in research, medical education and academic excellence. In this difficult time for our country, we are fortunate to be working in an indispensable industry that will continue to grow and strengthen in the future. No matter what happens in the world, people will always need medical care. As I have said before in our town hall meetings, we have challenges, but we are strong and steadfast in our mission. In light of this good fortune, I want to thank you for what you do for our awesome Miller School/UHealth/UM family, because we are a family and we care for each other. Because of the power of our UM family, I ask you to think about those in your community who you can help, especially during this holiday season. We have much to look forward to in the coming year, and I am very excited about building on our current achievements. May your holidays be filled with good health and abundance. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Pascal J. Goldschmidt, M.D., |
