April 27, 2009 Dear Faculty, Staff and Students, UHealth – University of Miami Health System is once again setting itself apart as a leader in the region’s health care and research efforts with the release of its new television presentation, Breakthrough Medicine. I hope you will share in the excitement and tune in for the debut episode at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, on ABC affiliate WPLG-TV, Channel 10. Breakthrough Medicine provides viewers with an opportunity to go inside our University-based health system and share in the remarkable breakthroughs being made on our campus every day. Each episode covers a specific topic, from cardiac surgery to stem cell research, while showcasing the talents of UHealth’s medical pioneers. The first episode in the Breakthrough Medicine series features the percutaneous aortic valve replacement clinical trial — which offers an alternative to open heart surgery for people with aortic stenosis – performed in Florida only at University of Miami Hospital. Immediately following the broadcast, viewers will be invited to log on to our Web site for a live question-and-answer session with UHealth physicians who were featured in the episode. Save the date – April 28! If you have any questions about the series, please contact the Office of Marketing at (305) 243-3453, or visit the UHealth Web site, www.uhealthsystem.com. Sincerely, Pascal J. Goldschmidt, M.D. |
