Clinical Research Initiation Services (CRIS) Process Overview

Whenever a new Clinical Research Study Opporunity is identified a PI and their Administrative Department counterpart work together to assemble the CRIS application documents. These COMPLETED documents are then submitted to the CRIS office and the completed application is scanned into the CRIS Central Database. If the application documents are incomplete, CRIS works with PI to complete them.

The PI and department adminstrator are then notified when the application is received and the CRIS office notifies its Medicare Coverage Analysis Manager, Contract Review Manager, Budget Review Manager and Regulatory Group Coordinator that a new study has been received. The managers then assign the study to its team members.

There are then three processes that occur simultaneously within the CRIS office; the Medicare Coverage Analyst completes the MCA and the CRIS office works with the PI/administrative personnel to review the budget and perform the contract review and negotiation. After the study has passed through these three processes successfully CRIS sends the Information packets to the relevant departments, affiliated hospitals and essential stakeholders.
