Membership
Membership Information
The Developmental Center for AIDS Research welcomes individuals, students, faculty and community groups who are interested in becoming members throughout the year.
Our current membership consists of 122 members including 95 faculty, 5 post-doc/fellows and 22 ancillary members. These members are derived from
different departments of the Miller School of Medicine, including the Clinical and Basic Sciences departments.
Membership to the DCFAR is free and currently has 5 levels of Membership:
1. Full Member
2. Associate Member
3. Trainee Member
4. Invited Member
Full Member: This level of membership is open to UM faculty that currently has at least one NIH HIV/AIDS related grant. This level is entitled to all the advantages offered by the DCFAR.
Associate Member: This level of membership is for those UM Faculty that is interested in HIV/AIDS but do not currently has NIH funding related to HIV/AIDS. This level is entitled to all the advantages offered by the DCFAR.
Trainee Member: This level of membership is for UM Fellows and who are interested in HIV/AIDS. This level of membership is allowed all the benefits of the DCFAR with the exception of applying for a Developmental Grant.
Invited Member: This level of membership is for members of the community or organizations who otherwise do not fit into the above criteria but who are interested in HIV/AIDS. This level of membership allows for invitation to participate in DCFAR activities.
DCFAR Member Benefits:
1. Access to all Core Resources (Assistance to research populations, laboratories, other facilities and biostatistical support)
2. Consideration for DCFAR Developmental Awards
3. Notification of the Annual Conference for presentations and poster notifications
4. Participation in the DCFAR Mentoring Program
5. Notification of upcoming events, symposia, quarterly newsletter and grant notifications
Membership Responsibilities:
1. Attendance at the Monthly DCFAR Research Meetings (75% or 9 out of 12 per year)
2. Regular attendance at DCFAR Sponsored Seminars and Symposia.
3. Compliance with completing surveys on your HIV/AIDS research/projects (complete at least 2 per year)
4. Required use of the DCFAR Logo when presenting DCFAR sponsored/supported research whether internally or externally
5. Provide DCFAR acknowledgement in DCFAR sponsored/supported papers, poster, manuscripts, publications, etc.
