Scientific Areas of Research

Among the aims selected for UM D-CFAR, the foremost is to provide the scientific leadership that will enhance and promote AIDS research. Our second objective is to establish cores that stimulate scientific collaboration in interdisciplinary and translational research.

The areas of research have been thematically grouped into five areas in order to promote facilitate scientific discussions and form focus groups  with the ultimate goal of developing inter-disciplinary collaborations, expanding HIV research, and identifying new research opportunities through the D-CFAR activities.

The thematic areas of research are as follows:

  • Clinical Trials, Complications, including Neuro-AIDS
  • Viral Oncology
  • Pathogenesis, Antiviral Immunity and Vaccines
  • Behavior, Epidemiology, and Social Sciences
  • International HIV/AIDS Research
