Application Process
An institution in the home country must nominate candidates. Interested institutional leaders or potential applicants should contact the Fogarty office or a faculty member. The program of research to be conducted by the applicant under the sponsorship of the Miller School of Medicine Fogarty Program should be discussed and decided jointly. Once this has been determined, the application form may be completed and submitted along with:
- The candidate's detailed curriculum vitae in English
- A brief description of research interests
- A copy of the candidate's degree diploma
- The names and addresses of three references
- Two letters of recommendation from prominent institutional individuals in the home country
- A letter of assurance from the candidate's home institution indicating a firm position and continued commitment to HIV/AIDS and/or TB research upon his/her return to that institution
- A letter of agreement that the candidate and his home institution will collaborate with the Miller School of Medicine on HIV/AIDS and/or TB research and training programs
In accord with the trainee’s stipend levels of the National Institutes of Health, each trainee’s annual stipend is based on the number of years of relevant experience following completion of an advanced college degree (M.D., Ph.D. or equivalent degree).
The Program’s Director and Advisory Committee will select candidates after evaluation of their completed application materials, and review of qualifications.
Application for the program may be submitted at any time during the year. Information regarding the application procedure and application forms may be obtained from:
