Temporary Services >>
Overview
The Temporary Services at the University continues to assist the Miller
School of Medicine in recruiting high quality, skilled
applicants for the vast needs of our departments. Our
recruiters conduct initial interviews and test applicants
for relevant skill based assessments to ensure that the
best qualified candidate is elected. We have contributed
to an immeasurable number
of employees hired into full time regular positions.
Temporary Assignments vary from a few hours to several months. However, it is not a guarantee that
any temporary assignment(s) will become a full time position. It is the temporary employee's
responsibility to enhance their skills and experience while pursuing opportunities within the
University.
University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine Temporary Services offers a variety of job
opportunities in the following areas: Clerical/Administrative, Nursing,
Research, Technical and Allied Health. Our services allow applicants
to explore and network within the University community.
Temporary Employee Request Form
In an effort to streamline the TERF (Temporary Employee Request Form) process, the following changes are effective immediately.
TERF’s will no longer have expiration dates; therefore no more extensions will be required. All current information on file will remain active until we are notified in writing from the Department HR- Administrator.
New TERF’s – will only be required when the following applies:
- New Request
- Account changes
- Change in Job Duties and/or Salary adjustments
TERF approvals will be at the department level (HR-Administrator signature will be required). If the account to be charged is a “6 account”, then the TERF must have Sponsored Programs approval.
Please note our office will no longer accept any old TERF forms, or incomplete forms. The only one we will accept is the one shown on our WEB site:
OTHER ISSUES OF IMPORTANCE
Kronos
All Kronos entries for Temporary employees will continue to be done by the Medical Human Resources – Temporary Pool office. Any Kronos changes to the information shown on the original TERF may only be done by written request.
Any Temporary employee that hasn’t shown any activity in Kronos for over 60 days will be automatically terminated in both DHRS and Kronos. Please contact our department if you have a Temp that has not had activity within this timeframe but who will continue to be in your per diem pool. Once the Temp returns, they must come to our office before reporting to your department to be re-drugged tested and another background search conducted before they may begin to work. If employee reports directly to your department we can not guarantee payment of hours worked, so make sure they have come to our office for proper processing.
Temp Terminations
It is very important that once your Temp employee assignment ends, that our office is notified immediately.
Change in Temp Assignments
Temporary employees are not allowed to be switched between Departments. Proper procedures must be followed due to terminations, proper departmental charges and payroll. Please contact the Temporary Pool office immediately 243-5640.
