Policies and Procedures
Dress Code
Temporary Employees at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine are expected to dress
professionally for each assignment. Dress codes vary from department to department. During the
initial process, our recruiter will review the necessary attire, but a professional appearance is
expected at all times.
Drug Free Workplace
The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine is a Drug-Free/Smoke-Free
Workplace. It is the policy of the University that the
unlawful manufacturing, distributing, dispensation, possession
or use of a controlled
substance is prohibited in the University's workplace. Violation of
this policy will subject the employee to disciplinary
action.
Drug Screening
The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine requires a pre-employment Drug Test of all
applicants. A sample will be collected within 48 hours from your date and time of hire. Failure
to take the test within the 48-hour period will preclude future employment with the University
for a one-year period from that date.
Email/Internet Usage
Many assignments will require the use of e-mail and/or Internet access. Each department will
provide the necessary access, as they deem appropriate. Each applicant will be required to sign
our "Confidentiality Agreement", which includes email and Internet usage. Any violation under this
policy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Overtime
Non-exempt (hourly) employees who work more than forty hours in a given week will be compensated
at time and half of their rate of pay. All overtime hours must be pre-approved by the immediate
supervisor.
Pay Periods
Please refer to the Payroll schedule provided to you during the hiring process. The schedule
indicates the payroll due date for timesheet submission as well as the payday for each cycle.
Paychecks are not distributed on campus. You will receive a direct deposit form that must be
completed and submitted to payroll. Please ensure that you attach a blank voided check.
