Welcome to the Cardiovascular Division
Welcome to the Cardiovascular Division at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Our missions are to deliver high quality, comprehensive care using the most advanced therapies available; to uncover causes of and treatments for heart disease; to train the next generation of practitioners and cardiac scientists; and to work with referring physicians to serve the South Florida community and its neighbors. Under the long-time leadership of Dr. Robert Myerburg, and recent direction by Drs. Alberto Interian and Eduardo De Marchena, the Division established its commitment to patient care, research, education, and community partnership.
To stay at the forefront of the rapid advances in cardiac medicine, the Division recently initiated a dramatic expansion. Over the past year, we:
- Recruited ten new cardiologists -- experts in cutting-edge patient care and cardiovascular research;
- Opened a state-of-the-art outpatient practice at the University of Miami Hospital (formerly Cedars Medical Center);
- Expanded our reach in the community by teaming up with the Key West Center of Cardiovascular Excellence headed by Bruce Boros, MD, FACC;
- Launched a Cardiovascular Access call center to facilitate communication between faculty and community physicians; and
- Added advanced programs in Interventional, Electrophysiology, and Heart Failure therapies, and translational research programs including Cardiac Stem Cell Therapy.
As the largest group of specialists in the region, we can provide expert care for patients with cardiovascular disease, in a personalized, accessible, and responsive practice. Thank you for visiting! We look forward to getting to know you.
