Electrophysiology/Cardiac Arrhythmia Service
The Division of Cardiology at the University of Miami Medical Center has a large and comprehensive program in cardiac electrophysiology (Click here for details on our services). Activities are broadly separated into several categories:
- Outpatient services for the evaluation, diagnosis and management of patients with known or suspected heart rhythm disturbances or those at risk for life-threatening arrhythmias;
- Laboratory-based services that include pacemaker implants, implantation of devices for re-synchronization therapy for the failing heart, and implantable defibrillators for individuals at risk for cardiac arrest and sudden cardiac death;
- Tissue Doppler imaging service available at the non-invasive laboratory at the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics for evaluating the indications for, and efficacy of, re-synchronization therapy;
- A Device Clinic available for long-term monitoring, interrogation, and programming of devices implanted in the listed categories of patients, and
- Diagnostic and interventional procedures for patients with various forms of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. These include testing for identifying and risk profiling cardiac arrhythmias and for interventions using modern ablation techniques for curative therapy.
- The electrophysiology service is expanding its imaging capabilities to further refine its ability to map and ablate the sources of various cardiac arrhythmias. The electrophysiology faculty is available for evaluating indications for therapeutic interventions and for performing these procedures.
Our Electrophysiology Cardiologists include:
