Rafael F. Sequeira, M.D., is professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He serves as director of the Coronary Care Unit. Dr. Sequeira earned his medical degree from the National University of Ireland and completed residencies at the University of Nairobi and Larkfield Hospital in Greenock, Scotland. He was a cardiology fellow at the University of Glasgow, senior research fellow at Northwick Park Hospital in London, and senior cardiac fellow at the University of Bristol.

Dr. Sequeira conducts continuing medical education courses in clinical cardiology, and his area of teaching specialization is the mechanisms of disease and fundamental and clinical aspects of internal medicine. He was named Outstanding Teacher by the Cardiology Fellows at the University of Miami in 1983, 1992, and in 2004.
