Ray E. Hershberger, M.D., is professor of medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, associate chief of cardiology, director of the Advanced Heart Failure Therapies Program, and director of Translational Cardiovascular Genetic Medicine. Dr. Hershberger received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine and trained in internal medicine at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. and the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed fellowships in cardiology at the University of Utah and cardiac transplant at the Utah Cardiac Transplant Program in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Before joining the University of Miami, Dr. Hershberger served as the director of cardiac transplantation and professor of medicine in cardiology at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. He is the founder and principal investigator of the Familial Dilated Cardiomyopathy Research Project that seeks to identify and understand the genetic causes of cardiomyopathy and heart failure.
