Division Overview
The Department of Medicine trains physicians from many continents in the disciplines of Internal Medicine. The expertise of the General Internal Medicine faculty is called upon to train some of the finest clinicians in the U.S. and abroad. The reputation of the division has extended its training programs far beyond the walls of the University.
General internal medicine is an integral part both of the clinical and educational activities at the University of Miami School of Medicine and Jackson Memorial Hospital. The division's leadership role in combining basic education with intensive clinical mentoring begins when medical students first arrive at school and continues through their graduation. At the postgraduate level, residency training in the Residency Training Program in Internal Medicine is classically represented by interpersonal relationships among the faculty and resident. Teaching, research and patient care is uniquely comprehensive in this environment.
