Staff
The Florida Poison Information Center – Miami is staffed by physicians, nurses, pharmacists and board certified toxicologists. Based on years of toxicology experience and a computerized database describing over 500,000 substances, we provide advice within minutes for each question or emergency. We are certified as a Regional Poison Control Center by the American Association of Poison Control Centers. The Center provides coverage for approximately 6 million residents in South Florida. The Poison Control Center is located on the campus of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital and is primarily funded by the Florida Legislature through the Agency for Healthcare Administration and Children’s Medical Services, a division of the Florida Department of Health. The Florida Poison Information Center Network also receives limited funding through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration.
