The Minimally Invasive Surgical Training & Education Center (MISTE) is a state-of -the-art education and training facility located on the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine campus. The Center was developed with the support of the DeWitt Daughtry Family Department of Surgery and by the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine as well as unrestricted educational grants from corporate partners.

The Center is committed to teaching surgeons the application of minimally invasive surgical techniques so they are well equipped to offer an alternative to traditional open surgery – an alternative requested with increasing frequency. For patients, minimally invasive surgery, sometimes referred to as ‘keyhole’ surgery, offers reduced post operative pain, quicker recovery, and less scarring.
